The facts and numbers about some Porsches

356 (1948 - 1963)

Models 1100, 1300, 1500, 1600, 2000

911 (1964 - 1989)

1963 - 1966 =-series. 901 and 911. 911 was showed for the first time on Motorshows. Six-cylinder Engine 2,0 litre. 1966 Targa model in production.

1966 - 1968 A-seires. 911, 911 L, T and S. 160 hp motor on 911S and as well as 5.5 inch tyres. 911L get vented discs. Four-speed Sportmatic introduced 1967. All models available as Targa and 1968 glass window replaces plastic item.

1967 - 1969 A-series. 911 T, E and S. Wheelbase extended by 57 mm, single battery repolaced by two in front luggage area. S and E models have mecanical Bosch fuel injection. 911 T introduced and E-model replaces L-model

1969 - 1970 C-series. 911 T, E and S. Engine modifications to 2.4 litre.

1970 - 1971 D-series. 911 T, E, S and Carrera RS.  PVC-coated and galvanised underfloor areas. Tweaks to injection to meet new emission legislation.

1971 - 1972 E-series. Egine modifications, 2,7 litre and adjustment to regular petrol. External oil filler placed between door and rear wheel. All models have Fuchs wheels.

1972 - 1973 F-series. External oil filler removed. Chin spoiler introduced on S (option for T and E). 2.7 RS first to be fitted with Duck tail rear wing.

1973 - 1974 G-series. Shock absorbing bumpers.Top Carrera models with "Black look" and 210 hp

1974 - 1975 H-series. 911, S, Carrera and Turbo.  Turbo introduced with four speed gearbox and higher spec. Duck tail replaced with Whale tail on Carreras. 1063 Silver Anniversary model sold. 

1975 - 1976 I-series. Bodies zink-coated, galvanised steel. Bosch K-jetronic on all models. Sportmatic now got only 3 speed.

1976 - 1977 J-series. 911, Carrera 3,0 and 930 Turbo. Sportmatic models get brake servo assistance. "black-look" trim standard on Targas.

1977 - 1979 SC K and L-series. 911 SC, 930 Turbo.  Super Carrera with 3.0 litre motor. Servo assisted brakes on all models. Turbo 3.3 litre motor equipped with intercooler and Tea-tray spoiler replaces whale tail.

1979 - 1980 SC New A-series. Revised ignition and camshaft timing results in 188 hp SC model. Turbo get Twin-exit exhaust.

1980 - 1981 SC New B-series. SC now runs on 98Ron fuel.

1981 - 1982 SC New C-series. Limited edition of "Ferry Porsche". Tea-tray spoiler option.

1982 - 1983 SC New D-series. Cabriolet introduced.

1983 - 1984 Carrera New E-series. 911 Carrera, SC RS, 930 Turbo. Carrera replaces SC. Lager engine capacity 3164cc. Digital Motor Electronic Engine management introduced and oil-fed chain tensioner. Turbo-look option.

1984 - 1985 Carrera New F-series. Carrera available with catalytic converter. 4-spoke steering wheel standard. 

1985 - 1986 Carrera New G-series. Sport seats no cost-option.

1986 - 1987 Carrera New H-series. 911 Carrera, Club Sport and 930 Turbo.
Targa and Cabriolet versions available with Turbo Engine. Slant-nose becomes option. New transmission. Power hood standard on Cabriolet.

1987 - 1988 Carrera New J-series. Celebration anniversary model.

1988 - 1989 Carrera New K-series. 16-inch wheels standard. Speedster introduced with Turbo or flat-nose look.

 

964 (1989 - 1993)

Carrera 2/4, Carrera 2 RS, Turbo, 3,8 RS and Turbo 3,6.
Lounched in january 1989 with a new flat-six motor, suspension, brakes and numerous new body parts. Porsche claim only 13 percent over parts from predecessor. Carrera 4 split torque 39/61 front to rear. All Wheel ABS and Power steering standard, catalyst introduced.
 

1989-1990 Cerrera 2 introduced, Targa and Cabriolet available for both Carrare 2 and Carrera 4 models.Triptronic available on C2.
 

1990 - 1991 Rear drive 3.3 litre 320 hp 964 Turbo introduced complete with "Cup" design mirrors.
 

1991 - 1992 Stripped-out Carrera 2 RS reintroduced - first ojne since 1973. A Turbo S model with 381 hp available.to order
 

1992 - 1993 Speedster introduced. 3.6 litre Turbo production start.

993 (1993 - 1998)

1993 - 1994 Carrera 2/4, Carrera RS and Turbo. Increased motor Power and torque. Multi-link rearv suspension introduced. Four piston brake callipers standard front and rear. 2 and 4 Wheel drive offered to all modells.
 

1994 - 1995 Carrera RS introduced as redisigned, all Wheel drive system for Carrera and Triptrocin 5 with steeringwheel mounted shift Control for automatic gearbox. New  408 hp four-wheel drive, twinn turbo charged Porsche 911 Turbo is launched including a 6-speed gearbox and hollowed spoked alloy wheels.
 

1995 - 1996 Carrera 2/4, Carrera 2S/4S, Turbo, GT2 and Turbo S. VarioCam Engines annouced and up both Power and torque, sliding glasroof Targa introduced. A lightweight GT2, 430 hp, rear-Wheel homologation car launched - one of the fastest production Porsches ever built.
 

1996 - 1997 430 hp Turbo S offeredas run-out with a 450 hp option. Turbo-bodied Carrera 2S built alongside Carrera 4S. It is tha last 2-wheel drive aircooled Porsche 911 built.
 

1997 - 1998 Production of all 4-wheel drive Carrera and Turbo continues until July 1998. The last is a 4S 1998-03-31 and marks an end of 35 years production of air-cooled Porsches.

996 (1997 - 2001) Generation 1

1997 - 1998 All new water cooled 3.4 litre VarioCam six-cylinder boxer Engines. Rear Wheel drive, six speed manual transmission or five speed Triptronic S as an option, as well as Traction control. In the end of the year Carrera 4 is imtroduced along with Porsche Stability Management (PSM).
 

1998 - 1999 A stripped out GT3, 360 hp, is introduced.
 

1999 - 2000 A new 911 Turbo, 416 hp 4-wheel drive, arrives and as an option Triptronic S.
 

2000 - 2001 Carrera 2/4, GT3, Turbo, GT2. GT presented with 462 hp

996 (2001 - 2004) Generation 2

2001 - 2003 Second generation 996 introduced. New 3.6 litre 316 hp engine. The Turbo´s trip computer standard on all cars, as are the Turbo´s headlights and cup holders. New Carrera 4S with wide body, Turbo brakes and suspension. 996 Targa with sliding glas roof.
 

2003 - 2004 GT3 returns with a 381 hp motor and GT3 RS with partly carbonfiber. Carrera 4S Cabriolet introduced. GT2 gets a 483 hp motor.
 

2005 Turbo S returns as last model

997 (2004 - 2008) Generation 1

2004 3.6 litre 321 hp and 3.8 litre 355 hp engines for Carrera  and Carrera S. New six speed manual gerabox on both models, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) standard on Carrera S and option on Carrera model. 19-inch alloy wheels standard on Carrera S.
 

2005 Carrera 4 and 4S introduced with enginges as Carrera and Carrera S, rear body widened by 44 mm, PSM now equipped with pre-filling brake system.
 

2006 911 Turbo and GT3 launched as well as Targa 4 and 4S and GT3 RS
 

2007 997 Turbo Cabriolet launched and a new GT2 with 503 hp.

997 (2008 - 2012) Generation 2

2008 All new 3.6 345 hp and 3.8 385 hp engines with Direct Fuel Injection. Six-speed manual gearbox standard with new seven-speed PDK as an option. PASM standard on Carrera S and option at Carrera. Minor styling changes to light and bumpers. New PCM3, Bluetooth and steering Wheel. Carrera 4 and 4S get reflective light strip across tail and above updates. Cabriolet models introduced.
 

2009 Generation 2 of 997 GT3 launched. New Turbo model with a new 3.8 litre motor, Direct Fuel Injection, twinn VTG turbocharged Engine. PDK replaces Triptronic and Porsche offers steering Wheel mounted paddle-shift Controls. 250 limited Sport Classic models mix Carrera 4 wide body with rear wheel  drive and a 408 hp 3.8 litre Powerkit Engine including dubble domed roof, ducktail spoiler, Fuchs Wheels, leather interior and PCCB. A new GT3 RS with a wider front track, new aeropack, more powerfull Engine etc.
 

2010 530 hp Turbo S is available ac coupe or cabriolet, with PDK paddle shift, PCCB, dynamic Engine mounts, Sport Chrono Package Turbo and Torque Vectoring as standard as well as dual tone leather trim and adaptive sport seats. The GT2 RS 620 hp is introduced, only 500 built.
To mark its 25th Anniversary Porsche builds 356  911 Speedsters. Carrera GTS available as either Coupe or Cabriolet with Carrera 4 body, rear drive, 408 hp 3.8 litre Powerkit engine, 19-inch RS Spyder wheels, SportDesign front bumper, deeper side sills, mix leather inside, new steering wheel  and a choice of gearbox.  
 

2011 launches a 500 hp 4.0 litre engine GT3 R 
 

2012 the last of 997 is a new Carrera 4GTS

991 (2012 -2018)

2012 all new 911s featuring a longer wheelbase, a lighter body and more technology. Along with the PDK a new manual seven speed gearbox is introduced. Options as Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), dynamic engine mounts, torque vectoring, Electric powersteering,  and a new look inside and out. Carrera models fit with a 3.4 litre 355 hp motor, Carrera S with a 3.8 litre 400 hp motor.
 

2013 Carrera 4 and 4S coupe and cabriolet.A new 911 GT3 with a 3.8 litre 475 hp motoor was revealed. The Turbo models offered as 520 hp Turbo or 560 hp Turbo S fittied with PDK, Active rear wheel steering, torque vectoring, PDDC, dynamic engine mounts and Active aerodynamics for both front and rear spoilers.
